Getting Started Details!
We are excited for the upcoming time we get to spend with your children and to get to know you as well. I am Jean, the director of this shebang and always look forward to supporting parents in these next steps. I am the “hub” for the questions and queries, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you’re curious about something!
To that end, I’ve accumulated the big FAQs… Below are {probably} all the details you could have been wondering about. Soooo… it’s a long one… but worth it. I’m pretty sure everything is here!!
First… If anything has changed and you’re not in need of classes, please email back right way. Director@SBCmoms.com
What are the dates?
- Meet the Teacher: August 29 | 9:30-11:30- come and go anytime, plan to stay for 15-20. minutes
- First day: September 3rd – 9:30
- Our very first day usually feels VERY busy in the halls at 9:30. If you want to delay to 9:35/40 the hallway and classroom doors would likely be much calmer.
- Full list of dates here: www.SBCmoms.com/dates
What are the hours?
- 9:30-2:30
- Extended day 2:30-4:00 for $10 per use.
- Email Jean if you want to add $65 to tuition and reserve a 4:00 spot always.
Coffee: We make a rather large pot of coffee that is meant to share with moms and dads who want a first/second/hot/fresh cup on their way out. Feel free to enjoy!
Which class is my child in again? – Check with Jean! Director@SBCmoms.com
“Parent Portal” is where you can find enrollment info, extended day enrollment, a few other things. Click here to access the “portal” anytime.
How do we communicate?
- Email is the best option- Director@SBCmoms.com will connect you with Jean (me), the director, and I can connect with any teacher or family that you need.
- If we’re really honest, phone calls rarely actually connect two people, so we do recommend email.
Pictures: We take pictures of our awesome day and post them privately here: www.SBCmoms.com/pics – you can access and download anytime!
Arrival and Dismissal:
- Park anywhere near the double doors and go left down the hallway. The kids hall will remain locked until after our staff gathering and open at 9:25. Bring children to classroom doors, and pick up at classroom doors.
- Parents and other adults are not allowed in classrooms. This is for safety as well as consistency.
- Pick up time is 2:30. Pro-tip… you’ll need to be in the parking lot by 2:25.
First Time Drop Offs and Goodbyes: Some times new students shed tears when being dropped off the first few times. Below is how we recommend establishing a routine for drop off. Feel free to chat with me (Jean) before you go to the new class and we can talk it through.
- When you’re ready to drop off, it is best to hug, kiss, say goodbye (or “I”ll be back after lunch”) and head out of sight right away.
- Going back after dropping off for second and third hugs makes it much harder for children and staff to move forward and get them involved in their exciting day.
- We don’t recommend disappearing, it’s ok to see you leave after you hug, kiss and communicate. They are learning that you always come back and how to have a great time at school.
- Please come find me (Jean) for your hugs (but really! I cried too), and I can go peek and see how they’re doing.
- Email HowsItGoing@SBCmoms.com anytime and I’ll check in and send a picture of the progress!!
How do I pay tuition?
- When you enrolled, you put your card on file. It will be run automatically on the second of each month. – Any late fees will be charged through our system as well. (Pick up by 2:30 to avoid late fees)
- Please click here to check your payment method and “auto pay” is selected.
What do I need to send with my child?
- All children bring lunch, drinks (filled up), and spare clothes
- Nap Mats: younger classes need nap mats and ONE “lovey” (passy or lovey or blanket, etc).
- PreK classes will briefly rest, but won’t need nap mats**
- Diapers: Non-potty trained kiddos also send diapers and wipes for the week. (5-7 diapers for the week)
Notes about naps:
- All children have rest time after lunch, you may send ONE “lovey” or comfort item (only one)
- Disruptive behaviors during nap time: We will do all our soothing tricks (and we’re really good at it), but if it is clear after 15-20 minutes that a student will stay loud/disruptive, then we will call for early pick up so the rest of the class can have their nap. This is rare and for extreme disruptions, but wanted to let you know.
- Schedule: If starting naptime at 12:30/1:00 isn’t your family’s schedule, please feel free to pick up early. We cannot keep them awake or take them out of class while the others nap.
How will you keep my child safe?
- We have a Southlake police officer on campus during our class times. He will monitor the entry and do a walk of the building every half hour.
- You will be given a “pick up card” with your child’s name. Please bring it inside the first two weeks of classes as we learn who goes with who. If an adult we have not met comes to pick up your child we will check his/her ID if he/she does not have the pick up tag. (even if it’s clearly dad/grandma… better to be safe!)
- Our kids hall doors are locked with a doorbell for entry and a hallway monitor.
Whew… what do you think of all that!? Hopefully clear enough… if you have any questions, don’t hesitate (really), I’m just an email away!! See you soon! Director@SBCmoms.com

Click here to view our Parent handbook 2024-25. We will give you a printed copy of the handbook on your first day, so you don’t need to print this, and some of it is a repeat from above, but as you’re learning all the info to get started, we’ve included it so you have all the details you need to feel confident and ready!!
